Which range do the batteries have?

Autonomia_Bateries
One of the questions that most ask us as experts in sustainable urban mobility is how long the batteries of electric vehicles last. At the level of autonomy, all manufacturers describe the distance that their vehicles can use in a theoretical manner. There are different factors that condition range:
  • Type of driving. The more demand the engine is asked, the less range it will perform. Usually, vehicles tend to present different levels of engine intervention (eco, sport …) to find the balance between types of driving and energy demand.
  • Geography to overcome. Very related to the requirement of the engine, the level of unevenness to be overcome is also related. The more differences in the field, the less range the vehicle will have while the decline will be the opposite.
  • Displacement weight. Both the driver as a possible passenger (in legally authorized vehicles) and / or cargo will also condition the battery performance, to a greater or lesser extent, since the engine must perform more to achieve the speed.
  • Outside temperature. The batteries work at optimal temperatures around 20ºC. If they decrease or increase, the performance of the batteries can also be affected.

Range, then, will be one of the characteristics to consider and that can differentiate between the category and the price of the different vehicles in equal characteristics.
But our advice is that not only is this unique factor taken into account when it comes to acquiring one or another vehicle but a set of factors, such as charging time, the possibility of fast loading, the brand and the warranty of the components, possibility of extraction, purchase price of the free element in case of replacement, etc. Similarly, we also recommend that we take into account the majority of journeys that we usually do, since if our day to day does not require a great distance, we can make unnecessary spending thinking of possible situations that actually end up giving very promptly and that we can find alternatives.
